In memory of PC Phil Tomaszewski of Long Clawson who died in a motorcycle collision near Ab Kettleby, Leicestershire on 18 March, 2010.
The 48-year-old was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious injuries and died a short while later. He was off duty at the time.
Leicestershire Constabulary's temporary Chief Constable Chris Eyre, said: "PC Tomaszewski was a well respected officer and had served with Leicestershire Constabulary for 25 years. He was currently serving as a local policing officer at Loughborough.
"His death has come as a terrible shock to us all and my thoughts are with his wife and two daughters at this time."
Chief Superintendent Daimon Tilley, North BCU Commander, said: "Phil, known to his friends and colleagues, as Tommo, had been a personal friend and colleague for more than 10 years. I have spoken to a number of his friends and we have all been deeply touched by his sad loss, our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
"As well as being a committed police officer, Phil had a number of passions, including sailing, climbing and motorcycling. He had been involved in a number of charity events and travelled all over Europe. We have already had a number of tributes from members of the Blue Knights around the world.
"Phil was a lovely man, he always had a smile on his face and had a good sense of humour, which kept friends entertained. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him."
Report this message By Marianne Chadwick on 7th Apr 2010You will be sadly missed as a Coxswain and friend at Rutland Sailing Club. It always pleased us to see your bike outside the club's office because we knew we were in for an enjoyable day. Your talent, skill, patience and above all great sense of fun will be hugely missed.

Report this message By Jim Slater on 30th Mar 2010My deepest thoughts go out to Phil's family, this is very sad news. I only knew Phil for very short time on a CC ice climbing trip to Norway last month. As a climbing partner I found Phil to be warm, generous, good humoured and an all round pleasure to be with. I feel sad our friendship was so cruelly cut short.
Rest in Peace
Jim

Let me start by saying that it has been an honour to have known Tommo, and that it's a shame to not have met him earlier. He was always up for a good laugh and dance.
So it is with great sadness that we have to say; "Tommo Ride with Pride, we'll meet again in Heaven 1"
And in this hour our thoughts go out to you, Janet and Family.Madncik

Report this message By Ray Fitchett on 23rd Mar 2010Fil "Tommo" Tomaszewski.
A real friend who never failed to amaze you and make you laugh.
He did some absolutely stupid things and always bounced back joking about his latest climbing escapade / motor biking trip / sailing competition and boy could you hear him relate the tales. In your face but in your heart I think says it all.
I have so many memories of Fil and the Tommo family from when I lived in Long Clawson. We had some amazing times and were almost inseperable until I moved away and I realise now just how much I have missed him and will miss him in the future.
Love and cuddles to Jan, Zoe & Rosie. I know you'll need time but we will get together and laugh about all those times we spent together.
Fil deserves to be remembered and appreciated as he certainly was "one of a kind" and I am grateful that I knew him and was a friend.
All our Love. Ray, Tracey & Izzi Fitchett

When I was a 'wet nosed' probationer, you showed me the ropes. cant think of a better mentor, keen dedicated and 'surprisingly' patient. Much of what you taught me I remember to this day, and I remain forever grateful.
A excellent bobby and an unashamed family man.
You will be missed by all.Pete Chotak
Report this message By Emma Little on 23rd Mar 2010Tommo - I hadn't seen you in quite some time, and for that I am saddened. I am so sorry we didnt keep in touch as you used to make me howl with laughter... the world has lost a real cheeky chappy. Jan took a picture of me riding my bike whilst she was riding pillion with her hubby on the way to Buckingham Palace in 2006 I believe, and I cherish that photo and those memories. My deepest condolences, to Jan and their daughters. He was a really genuinely nice guy.

Our thoughts are with you.
Tomo will be sadly missed by so many - Bikers, sailors and not least climbers.
He made everyone he knew so welcome from whatever walk of life.
I will be remembering him every time I am in the hills and miss him so much- the pranks, someone fit & strong to carry a rope , and every so often to save my life. (I fall off almost as much as Phil did.)

Report this message By Christopher Sedman on 21st Mar 2010Tommo, you were always straight down the line mate, your friendship was much appreciated starting when you were still a probationer at Uppingham Road 24 years ago! I well remember the comradeship built up among many of us from those days.

Report this message By Graham Buxton on 21st Mar 2010Tommo's death is a very sad loss to all who knew him. We have fond memories of him at England VI's Hallowe'en Charity Disco last year, when he came dressed as 'The Phantom Raspberry Blower', showing his brilliant sense of humour. He was always smiling and enjoyed life to the full. However, as a Suquamish Native American Chief from 1866 said, "There is no death, only a change of worlds". Report this message By David Norris on 20th Mar 2010Phil,
It was a real pleasure to meet you, for the first time, at Blue Knights England VIII's Knights at Belvoir Castle back in 2007. I hadn't been a Blue Knight for very long, however, the welcome that Carol and I received from you, and all in your Chapter, as visitors from England VI was overwhelming.
Since then we have kept in touch via Face Book and attended every Burns Night at Leicestershire Police Force H.Q. You were always there with a smile, handshake and greeting for us, a true Ambassador of Blue Knights in every sense !!
England VIII has always been regarded by England VI as our Sister Chapter. We share many events together. Today, Carol and I mourn the loss of one of our Brothers who has left us to join the Blue Knights Chapter, Heaven I.
Rest In Peace Brother
