Newcastle United legend Charlie Crowe died on 27 February, 2010.
At the age of 85 he was the last surviving member of the team that won the FA Cup in 1951, beating Blackpool 2-0 at Wembley during the club’s glory years.
He was a local lad and spent 12 years on Newcastle’s books, from 1944 to 1956. He played in defence 216 times and scored five times.
During his last few years with the club he deputised as captain for Joe Harvey.
He spent a season at Mansfield Town before going into coaching in Egypt.
In later life he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and started a campaign to buy a new scanner for Newcastle University.
