Remembering residential care worker Ron Mackie who died in a road accident on December 1, 2009.
Mr Mackie worked at Cwrt Enfys nursing home.
He was travelling to his job there on his motorbike when he was involved in a collision.
Mr Mackie had helped with fund-raising for Children In Need in November 2009.
His parents, William and Suzanne Mackie, said: "Ronnie was our only child and he was a wonderful son.
"He had such a friendly, kind and loveable nature and he would do anything for anyone.
"We have been devastated by this tragic accident, as have his many friends, both here and in Ramsgate, where he grew up.
"Having grown up in Ramsgate, Ronnie moved to the Swansea Valley two years ago to be closer to us, after we moved here a few years earlier. He quickly fell in love with the area and loved hill walking, especially in the Beacons".
Karen Beech, home manager at Cwrt Enfys on Gorof Road, said: "To lose such a lovely member of staff is a huge blow," she said.
sam withersReport this message By Andrew Thomas on 3rd Dec 2009Ron was quite possibly the nicest person I have ever met. He worked in the Cwrt Enfys nursing home where he looked after my dad (along with all the other incredibly kind staff there). I last saw him on saturday night when he assured me he would be sitting my dad in front of the telly so he could watch the Wales game with him.
He was such a kind and gentle man, always with a friendly smile for everyone. There are so many rotten people in this world, it's hard to believe someone as sweet as Ron should be taken from us. It is hard to imagine a better example of a human being.
I would just like to assure his parents that they are not alone and we are all feeling the pain with them.
