Tributes have been paid to Sam Riddall, of Westbury-on-Trym, who died when he was hit by a car on May 1, 2009.
The 11-year-old had been walking home with three friends and one of his parents after an evening of football and games at a youth group.
His parents, Martin and Rachel Riddall, said: "Sam was a sociable, loveable 11-year-old who enjoyed playing football. He had many friends and enjoyed life to the full."
More than a dozen floral tributes were left at the scene of the accident in Eastfield Road.
Among the roses and bluebells were messages of condolence, comfort and reminders of fond memories.
One read: "A life too short, 'The Lord bless thee and give thee peace'. Numbers 6:24".
Another said: "Dear Sammie, thank you for being one of the friendliest and liveliest boys at Albert Place. You were fantastic at football and will be greatly missed. God bless you now, with love and prayers. From Chris and all at Albert's Place."
A third read: "Sam Riddall, you were the nicest, kindest boy I have ever met. No one will every be able to replace you, love Molly GB and Robyn xxx."
Sammy went to Redland Green School, where he was a "loveable and hugely popular" boy.
In addition to his parents, he was survived by three brothers.

Report this message By meg buckingham on 14th Nov 2009Sam, I dont really know how to explain how I feel, or how much your death has affected me, because whatever I write it will never do you justice. You were and still are one of the most incredible, inspiring people I have ever known. I have always looked up to you and do now more than ever. But I feel now almost guilty that you had to die for me to realise just how much I apprieciated you as a person and as a friend. You always managed to bring a smile to my face and to everyone else's who knew you. As I look back at the amazing life you lived, everything seems to blur, but the one things that stands out is your love for God and your complete trust that your life was in his control, that what ever happened was all part of his plan. Sam your smile will always live in our hearts and so will the trust that your smile is even brighter in heaven. I am always going to live my life for you and for all that you believed. If anyone deserves to be in heaven with God, its you. xxxxxxx
Report this message By Paul Boon Stewart on 14th May 2009The best way I felt I could pay tribute to Sam was by creating a piece of music dedicated to him. No words can really express, but I feel the world is a lesser place without Sam Riddall. I did not know him personally, but I have been moved by all that I hear about him and the many lives that he touched. He was an example of positive youth, and he should never be forgotten.
Report this message By heather dibble on 12th May 2009My Mom doesn't know I'm watching her
but I'm watching her just the same.
And I hear each tear fall on her face
at the mention of my name. She says it sounds like music to her ears
and be heard over a crowd.
Oh, I hear each tear fall on her face,
when my name is said aloud.I watch her stumble through each day
as she wishes the day would end.
And I hear each tear fall on her face
as she talks of me with her friends. But there are few who truly understand.
Oh this I've heard her proclaim.
And I hear each tear fall on her face.
Will my Mom ever be the same?I know that her smile can light up a sky,
But I don't see that smile today.
Oh, but I hear each tear fall on her face,
her blue skies have turned to grey.Oh I send to her my warmest hug
with the rays of the morning sun.
Then I won't hear a tear fall on her face,
for I shall erase them one by one.Yes, my Mom doesn't know I'm watching her,
