STIRRATT Basil Thomas. Aged 84, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2007. Dearest Husband of Pamela, cherished Father of Carol, Jane and Nicky, Grandfather of Emma, Danielle, Jamie and Oliver, Great Grandfather of Jack, Archie, Harvey, Cameron and Jaydn. Taken from us suddenly, you will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Private family cremation followed by thanksgiving service at St. Peter's Church, Henleaze at 2.30 p.m., on Friday, August 24, 2007. Family flowers only, donations for St. Peter's Hospice, Brentry, Bristol or The Children's Hospice South West, c/o Funeralcare, 20 High Street, Westbury on Trym, Bristol, BS9 3DU.

    Basil was a very brave man. In 1941 he helped to rescue the rear gunner, Sgt Richard Wish, from the Wellington bomber that crashed in St andrews Park on 30th April That year.
